Wicked Wilma

I am living proof that a person can watch hurricane footage on TV, give money to hurricane relief, and still not have the reality of it hit until it gets personal. Wilma has effected loved ones in WPB. As I listened to them explain the damage, I was in shock. And deeply grateful that both of them were safe. Life there is disrupted. No power, damage and wreckage everywhere. And yes, it is going to effect their wedding.
It gave me pause to think about just what these hurricanes have done to so many individuals and their lives. Plans ruined, weddings adjusted, jobs lost, homes lost, businesses closed...the far reaching effects just boggle the mind. Each individual life is effected in some way. Some large, some small. But all difficult.
Tonight it struck me that it's too easy for us to sit in our cozy homes and watch footage on TV and think, "That's terrible" But how often do we reflect on just how terrible it is? How often do we really think about just how it would feel if it were us and not them??
