A weekend of goodbyes

It's my last weekend here in southern Maine and as such, my daughter and my friends made sure that it would be a weekend of fun, not melancholy. It began Friday night with going to see our favorite local band, Highway Jackson. The guys were rockin', as usual and dedicated several songs to me, one being a brand new cut from their as of yet unreleased new CD. I was honored and it was fantastic!! I can't wait until the release. I've promised them I'm going to introduce the south to the awesomeness of Highway Jackson.
Last night was my last night as a 'regular' at our favorite local pool hall/club/sports bar. The band wasn't nearly as good as HJ, but we had a great time anyway. And the highlight of the evening was being the recipient of my favorite (and hottest) bouncer's shirt, complete with 'STAFF' written across the back. I of course was made to wear it the rest of the night, which led to hilarity as other bouncers gave me grief for not 'doing my job' and I played tough girl and pretended to kick out assorted attending corrections officers and family members. It was a great way to say goodbye. And Jimmy... I'm not sure what the bigger gift was, the shirt or the show I got when you took it off. ;) Ahh, that's going to be a treasured memory.
Today my daughter has combined an 'adult' toy party with a going away party, inviting lots of friends and family. Even though I've still got some packing ahead of me, I'm really looking forward to a day of fun and visiting. It's been weekend of saying goodbye worthy of a girly girl princess.
